Stacy Makes Cents: Crockpot chicken fajitas

I adore crock pot/slow cooker recipes. They are so easy its painful. I am always excited to find new recipes that aren't just casseroles or ragus.

How delicious does that look? I will be trying this out next week!

Also other crock pot recipes with Stacey:

Elephant Furniture

Awesome Elephant furniture... DO WANT!

Can be found here.

My daughter would have loved one of these :)

Hama beads... fab little things :)

Stuck for ideas on this rainy UK weekend? Well... here is a cheap crafty toy for children that you may recognise from your own childhood...

Hama beads! :)

My 6 year old has been hard at work for hours making pretty patterns with these little things :)
Very good with her slightly OCD tendencies of ordering colours in a specific way. Here she is dressed as a princess, making her own colourful princess!

We got ours from Amazon, which literally has LOADS of sets, we got a big tub and 4 templates :)

Creamy Peanut Butter Pie

I made the peanut butter pie from a recipe here:

http://spoonforkbacon.com/2012/03/creamy-peanut-butter-pie/

It was divine :)
Mine is less attractive, the recipe and it's pictures made it hard to not rush out and buy all the ingredients straight away!
Mine is all speckly because I used our posh hot chocolate that's like chocolate flakes :) Made it really rich.

Our hot chocolate is from here:

Seriously worth buying if you like your hot chocolate... its gorgeously creamy :)

Meals for next week.

I will cuts bits out here and there and substitute for cheaper. I have got all the ingredients so far, and put them into Sainsbury's online grocery... nearly £60 :S I spend about that every week with all my essentials like bread, milk, nappies etc! So definitely some cost cutting required!

I have been gradually getting closer and closer to vegetarian dishes. You will see I chose 3 veggie main meals... this is because of how expensive meat and fish is. I figure we also could do with eating healthily and eating more vegetables.. so here we are :)
Otherwise, there are 2 chicken and 2 salmon dishes.

I have been using bbcgoodfood for years. It has a binder to save all the recipes you need, and its website is really easy to get around.

I will post how good they are when I get round to trying them :) and will also list my changes :)
Yes, yes. It's yet another one of THOSE blogs.. where some crazed, sleep deprived woman justifies her parenting skills to the world through the medium of internet diarying.
I am not particularly special. My children aren't greatly special (well except to me of course). You won't be knocked over in awe at my general greatness... nor my wit or good looks.

I am writing this almost as a way to keep track of my thoughts and all the stuff I look at on the internets. I am making vows to cook, keep to a relatively low budget, be more practical, get crafty, and generally be a more awesome person in general.

I am a carer for the elderly, I assist people that are usually in the most difficult state of degenerative disease or cancer, or just generally in their last moments of their lives. I enjoy my job greatly.
I have two daughters. One 6 year old, and one newborn. My eldest has learning difficulties, she also has a language processing disorder and has been described in latest assessments as having autistic traits. She is also a complete nutcase with an overwhelming capability to love :) She loves the most girliest of activities and things, and would happily dress as a princess every day. She dislikes mushrooms, Ben 10, and being told what to do.
My newborn is so new, I suppose there is not masses to say about her.. although she has already got an overwhelming personality, with funny facial expressions and noises. She likes milk. She dislikes sleep. There you go.

My partner has left his job to become a stay at home Dad, and has been equally sharing the 'load' so to speak. I will be going back to work in August and being the breadwinner as traditionally described.

This blog will include:

  • Meal plans, tasty recipes, ways to save money
  • Creative and innovative ways to store things in a tiny 2 bedroom terrace
  • Activities to do with little and littler ones (especially applicable if you live in Norfolk, UK)
  • Current affairs, research, parenting techniques
  • My interests: TV shows, Films, Events, gems of the Internet...
Stick with me.. It might be more interesting than it sounds... :P
